The Midwest Chamber Ensemble is a Kansas City-based 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to the performance of Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble music of the classical tradition with the goal of providing a space for early career professionals and music student to have the opportunity to perform chamber works outside of an educational setting. The Midwest Chamber Ensemble prepares its members for future career opportunities by creating a professional environment, providing networking opportunities, and programming a wide variety of repertoire while simultaneously presenting its audience with quality concerts.
MCE is currently seeking a board member to serve as the president. Typically, the president spends around 10-20 hours per month preparing for and attending meetings, cultivating gifts, and/or attending concerts. Duties include but are not limited to:
路 Collaborates with the artistic director in developing and carrying out monthly meeting agendas. Sets meeting dates (usually 10 per year) and facilitates agenda ensuring board members have the opportunity for input.
路 Solicits donations from concert patrons, individuals, and businesses, and seeks to increase audience numbers
路 Sends thank you notes out for larger donations. Prepares, prints and sends the annual fundraising letter.
路 Signs checks for each musician and paid staff member for every performance
路 Welcomes audience members to concerts and ask for donations
路 Purchases tickets and attends concerts (usually 6 per season)
路 Arrives to concert venue an hour and half ahead of time and assists in setting up concert venue by setting up chairs and stands. Assists in moving chairs/stands back to proper locations after the concert.
路 Supports the organization by making a monetary donation on an annual basis
The board president serves a 3-year term and is eligible to extend that term for an additional 3 years, per board guidelines.
