Purpose:
To actively guide and support Cross-Lines Community Outreach in achieving its mission to serve those affected by poverty in Wyandotte County with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Term:
Three years, with the option to renew for an additional three-year term.
Reports To:
Board of Directors (as a collective governing body)
Time Commitment
Board members contribute approximately 6½ to 8½ hours per month, including:
Monthly board meetings – 2 hours
Committee work – 2 to 4 hours
Planning and preparation – 2½ hours
Additional participation is encouraged for annual events and special gatherings.
Core Responsibilities
As a valued member of the Cross-Lines Board of Directors, you will:
Actively engage in monthly board meetings
Serve on at least one board committee or task force
Participate in key organizational events, such as the annual board retreat, training sessions, and social/community gatherings
Contribute to the development and oversight of strategic and operational plans
Make a personally meaningful annual financial contribution to support Cross-Lines’ mission
Help champion and support fundraising efforts
Adhere to the organization’s conflict of interest policy
Ideal Qualifications
We’re looking for leaders who bring:
A genuine commitment to serving individuals and families experiencing poverty in our community
Skills, experience, or knowledge in areas such as nonprofit leadership, finance, law, marketing, fundraising, social services, or governance
The time and energy to actively engage in board service
Sound judgment, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to be a thought partner in our work
Prior leadership or volunteer experience is helpful, but not required
