Purpose:
To actively guide and support Cross-Lines Community Outreach in achieving its mission to serve those affected by poverty in Wyandotte County with compassion, dignity, and respect.

Term:
Three years, with the option to renew for an additional three-year term.

Reports To:
Board of Directors (as a collective governing body)

Time Commitment

Board members contribute approximately 6½ to 8½ hours per month, including:

• Monthly board meetings – 2 hours

• Committee work – 2 to 4 hours

• Planning and preparation – 2½ hours

Additional participation is encouraged for annual events and special gatherings.

Core Responsibilities

As a valued member of the Cross-Lines Board of Directors, you will:

• Actively engage in monthly board meetings

• Serve on at least one board committee or task force

• Participate in key organizational events, such as the annual board retreat, training sessions, and social/community gatherings

• Contribute to the development and oversight of strategic and operational plans

• Make a personally meaningful annual financial contribution to support Cross-Lines’ mission

• Help champion and support fundraising efforts

• Adhere to the organization’s conflict of interest policy

  Ideal Qualifications

We’re looking for leaders who bring:

• A genuine commitment to serving individuals and families experiencing poverty in our community

• Skills, experience, or knowledge in areas such as nonprofit leadership, finance, law, marketing, fundraising, social services, or governance

• The time and energy to actively engage in board service

• Sound judgment, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to be a thought partner in our work

• Prior leadership or volunteer experience is helpful, but not required
