Fundraising Chair

About the Role

The Fundraising Chair helps Bridges build the financial and community support needed to grow and sustain our mission. This role brings fundraising strategy to the Board and helps develop relationships, opportunities, and events that connect individuals, businesses, and organizations with meaningful ways to support Bridges.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience or strong interest in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, donor development, sponsorships, community events, or resource development.

• Grant writing experience is strongly preferred.

• Comfortable building relationships and inviting individuals, businesses, and organizations to support a mission.

• Creative, organized, collaborative, and able to recognize both financial and in-kind opportunities.

Board Responsibilities

Term: One year  |  Time Commitment: Approximately 3–5 hours per month, including monthly Board of Directors meetings beginning January 2027, committee leadership, and occasional planning or collaboration. Additional time may be needed for special projects and events, with opportunities to contribute more during this early growth stage.

• Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings and actively participate in discussion, planning, and decision-making.

• Commit approximately one-two hours per week to planning, committee, outreach, or other Bridges activities, with opportunities to contribute additional time to launch Bridges.

• Make an annual financial contribution meaningful to you and consistent with your ability.

• Actively advocate for Bridges by sharing our mission, promoting events and initiatives, and helping expand awareness in the community.

• Use your professional experience, relationships, and community connections to help Bridges develop partnerships, identify resources, and open doors that further the mission.

Events Committee Responsibilities

• Help Bridges leadership build the Events Committee and share responsibility for welcoming, organizing, and leading committee members.

• Lead committee meetings and help keep the team focused on practical fundraising and event priorities.

• Help identify and pursue grants, individual donors, corporate sponsors, community partners, and in-kind resources.

• Help develop fundraising strategies and campaigns that support Bridges programs and long-term sustainability.

• Guide the committee in planning and carrying out fundraising and community events.

• Help cultivate relationships with businesses, foundations, law firms, professional organizations, and other potential supporters.

• Collaborate with the Finance Committee on budgets and financial information needed for grants and fundraising, and with the Marketing Committee to promote campaigns and events.

Note: The Fundraising Chair is not expected to personally write every grant, secure every donation, or plan every event. The role is to help build and lead a capable team that shares the work.
