About the Role
The Treasurer serves as an officer of the Bridges Board and provides financial oversight to help the organization grow responsibly and sustainably. This role helps ensure sound financial practices, transparency, and a clear understanding of Bridges’ financial position as the organization grows.

Ideal Candidate
• Experience in banking, accounting, finance, investment, business, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
• Comfortable reviewing financial reports, budgets, and financial practices and helping others understand them.
• Values transparency, accountability, and responsible nonprofit stewardship.
• Practical, collaborative, dependable, and comfortable providing financial guidance at the Board level.

Board Responsibilities
Term: One year | Time Commitment: Approximately 3–5 hours per month, with opportunities to contribute more during this early growth stage.


• Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings and actively participate in discussion, planning, and decision-making.
• Commit approximately 3–5 hours per month to planning, committee, outreach, or other Bridges activities, with opportunities to contribute additional time during the launch and growth of Bridges.
• Make an annual financial contribution meaningful to you and consistent with your ability.
• Actively advocate for Bridges by sharing our mission, promoting events and initiatives, and helping expand awareness in the community.
• Use your professional experience, relationships, and community connections to help Bridges develop partnerships, identify resources, and open doors that further the mission.

Treasurer Responsibilities
• Provide Board-level oversight of Bridges’ financial health, practices, and reporting.
• Review regular financial reports and help ensure the Board understands the organization’s financial position.
• Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and bookkeeper on budgeting, banking, financial planning, reporting, and appropriate financial controls.
• Help ensure accurate financial information is available for Board decisions, grants, fundraising, and strategic planning.
• Support the development of practical financial systems and safeguards appropriate for a growing grassroots nonprofit.
• Help ensure required financial filings, reporting, and other financial responsibilities are completed appropriately and on time.

Note: Bridges has bookkeeping support. The Treasurer is responsible for financial oversight and Board-level accountability, not day-to-day bookkeeping.
