Board members

To enhance the quality of life in Johnson County by strengthening the arts.

Responsibilities of ACJC Individual Board Members:

  • Attendance: Board Members commit to regularly attend board meetings and important related meetings.

  • Awareness: Board Members follow developments that affect the Arts Council, promote the Arts Council in daily activities and watch for opportunities to enhance the Arts Council’s work.

  • Events and Initiatives: Board Members will attend at least two events each year and support all initiatives sponsored by the Arts Council. This may also include assisting the Arts Council staff with event promotion, resource development, and program delivery. Additionally, Board Members will purchase at least three tickets to the annual Shooting Stars Gala.

  • Committee Work: Board Members make a serious commitment to participate actively in committee work; furthermore, board members:

·       Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments completing them thoroughly and on time. 

·       Stay informed about committee matters, prepare well for meetings, and review and comments on minutes and reports.

·       Get to know other committee members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.

·       Actively participate in the committee's planning efforts.

  • Mission: Board Members agree to refine the mission and participate in strategic planning to grow the Arts Council’s purposes, priorities, financial standing, and goals.

  • Executive Director: Board Members must be prepared to approve the selection, compensation, and if necessary, dismissal of the Executive Director, and to assure regular evaluation of the Executive Director's performance.

  • Finances: Board Members actively participate in fund raising for the Arts Council and demonstrate good stewardship of Arts Council resources. Board Members maintain annual membership in the Arts Council. An annual contribution of $750 is required of each Board Member.

  • Planning Oversight and Support: Board Members commit to oversee and evaluate strategic plans and support management in carrying out plans and procedures that reflect current laws and regulations.

  • Board Recruitment: Board Members actively participate in identifying and recruiting prospective members of the Board.
