Welcome to OnBoard! As nonprofits, we know that volunteer leadership is the lifeblood of our organizations. When it comes to our Boards and Committee Memberships, there is simply no greater organizational success factor than having the right people in those roles.
Here are some tips for recruiting great fits to your org using OnBoard.
Success Tip 1: Make sure your Volunteer Position & Organizational Profile is filled out as thoroughly as possible.
This is your first impression for volunteers on OnBoard. Make sure you have all of your information filled out, including photos in addition to your logo and an organizational brochure. View your public profile to ensure that it displays the way you intend it to.
How to view & edit your Volunteer Position & Organizational Profile
From your Organization Dashboard, find the "Your Organization" section and click to view your profile.
^ Note: If you don't see a profile here, click here to create a profile.
Success Tip 2: If you are recruiting multiple positions, create a new post for each of them.
You'll get maximum visibility through our email system when you create a new position for each vacancy rather than including multiple positions in a single post.
Success Tip 3: Don't just wait for candidates to apply -- actively recruit them.
Volunteers on OnBoard are qualified, ready-to-serve, and diverse in experience and expertise. While your posted role will get visibility on its own through the directory and the digest emails we send out, we recommend organizations proactively reach out to the talent they're seeking to recruit.
Use the filtering features to select for the expertise and mission interests that align with your organization's needs. Direct message volunteers to start the conversation, or message them a link to your volunteer role.
Success Tip 3: Keep an eye on your email inbox
You'll receive applications directly to your email. Reply on the application email to email the candidate. We will also periodically send you new and recommended volunteers personalized based on your organization's needs.
Our email server is configured to successfully deliver mail to your Inbox. However, some mail services with strict inbox delivery settings may filter our email to Spam (for example, school email servers have notoriously strict spam settings).
To fully ensure inbox deliverability, add [email protected] to your contacts list.
